S Scale Engines For Sale
(last updated April 8, 2024)

I am selling a large number of S Scale engines for people who contacted me for help selling their collections.

I am still working on these For Sale pages to provide more detailed notes to better describe the condition of many items and to reflect updated Greenberg book values. If you'd like more information about any one or more items, email me; I'll dig them out and provide any information you'd like.

For reference purposes, I show an estimated book value for most items, adjusted for condition. These should not be interpreted as firm, fixed asking prices. Make an offer I can't refuse!

Items that I have not yet evaluated and priced are shown with a condition of “TBD” and price of “ask.” If you are interested in one of these, email me and I will check it out for you.

If you are interested in buying an item shown here, email me: theupstairstrain@gmail.com. Please include your mailing address so I can calculate shipping charges and send you an invoice with the total.

Shipping cost will be actual cost via Priority Mail (for large or heavy items) or First Class mail (for small, light items), and I will happily ship items together to minimize shipping costs. I ship everything insured unless you accept full liability for loss or damage in shipment.

Submit payment by ZellePay, bank check, or personal check. Don't waste your money on a money order or cashier's check.

As much as I would like to, it is impractical to provide pictures of all these items because there are so many and because things keep flying off the shelves. Pictures of both sides, top, and bottom are available on request. In the meantime, if you're looking for something, ask – I might just have it.

Because I have so many items for sale, I am splitting the list up onto thirteen web pages:

I have a very large inventory of freight cars, track, switches, switch controls, Track Terminals, Track Locks, Uncouplers, Air Chime Whistle controls, Track Trips, Crossover Tracks, Rubber Roadbed, Track Bumpers, etc. Check them out!

I replaced the plug to the tender. Cleaned and serviced the motor and wheels; runs great. Rust on outside of reversing switch but it works fine.

I replaced the knuckle coupler on the tender. Right front tender step is missing; can't swap shells with another tender because it uses mounting screws and the others have mounting tabs. Only a little rust on the chassis, mounting screws, and coupler mount. Lettering strong; just a little scratch through one logo.

Wire and plug to tender are missing; mounting screws are missing because mounting holes are broken and don't hold; rust spots on locomotive's manual reversing switch and drawbar. Linkage rods and pilot truck missing. Left little step on cowcatcher is missing

Tender coupler is stiff and should be replaced unless you always run trains together and never uncouple anything; rust spots on tender coupler mount, axles, truck bodies, and chassis. Lettering is quite strong, but there are light scratches in the logo on the right side. Nasty burn mark above the female plug but it provides power just fine. Wheels need cleaning.

Cosmetically, locomotive and tender could use a light cleaning, but are quite nice.
